I have started processing time records from 2022. I did not start an organized online schedule until the fourth month, so I don't have any records from the first three months. After reviewing the emails from those months, it is safe to assume my time caregiving was likely higher than the month in this report. I may yet find the paper records from those first harrowing months.
In the meantime, we do have comprehensive records after February 1, when I set up and started using my Google calendar for scheduling and tracking significant events.
Month 1 - Nov 2021 | Notes - we were entering our first month of family caregiving. Mom moved home on Nov 1, 2021 - her 91st birthday. In the first month she was diagnosed with pnuemonia (exacerbation of her COPD) and dementia. The first month was scrambling to keep Mom alive as she was still smoking and struggling to breathe. |
Month 2 - Dec 2021 | Notes - our second month family caregiving. Mom was put onto the Palliative Care Registry, we completed her DNR forms and 'Expected Death in Home' form. Home Support caregivers were coming to give Mom her bathes. I was still working fulltime for paid work. We got Mom to stop smoking using the patch. There was no regular schedule, we were just trying to get Mom stable and secure. |
Month 3 - Jan 2022 | Notes - we were entering our third month of family caregiving. Mom had quit smoking. She was going deaf and we implemented treatment to get her ears cleared so she could hear again. We were still scrambling from one day to the next to figure out how I was going to work full time and how we were going to take care of Mom. |
Month 4 - Feb 2022 | Notes - our fourth month caregiving and I was realizing I needed a schedule to manage Mom's caregiving needs. This is the first month we have numbers for who was providing care for Mom and when it was happening. At this point we were still trying to manage me working fulltime from my home office and someone with Mom 24/7. |
The Google Calendar download for 2022 is 1,397 calendar entries.
